Chapter I — Foundations

Probability, not prophecy.

Every Forecast Brief is the product of a single discipline: the conversion of structured signals into bounded probability. The Lattice Convergence model was built to make that conversion legible, contestable, and — once a year — auditable by a third party.

01.

Forty-seven indicators, one lattice.

Across nineteen capitals, our 38 senior analysts maintain a registry of 47 structured indicators spanning political succession risk, fiscal stress, military posture, demographic pressure, technological diffusion, and informational manipulation. Each indicator carries a published definition, a refresh cadence, and a named steward. The lattice is the connective tissue: indicators are not surveyed in isolation, they are tested against one another for convergence and divergence across a rolling twelve-month window.

The point is not to gather more data. It is to refuse narrative intuition's gravitational pull. A single anecdote — a striking speech, a leaked photograph — does not move a forecast. Forty-seven indicators, weighted by their historical contribution to past inflection points, do.

02.

Red-team dissent is not optional. It is the seventh pillar.

Every draft forecast is assigned a structured adversary: a senior analyst whose professional obligation is to argue, in writing, that the call is wrong. The red-team brief is filed alongside the forecast, attached to the same event ID, and surfaced to the reader as a labelled dissenting view. This is not theatre. Of the nine top-tier inflection points we have correctly anticipated since 2017, three began life as the red team's minority position that eventually carried the room.

The seventh pillar of the Lattice is dissent itself. It is staffed, funded, and given the same editorial weight as the primary call. When the model is taught at Johns Hopkins SAIS and Sciences Po, the dissent protocol is the first module students are asked to defend.

03.

Confidence intervals, not predictions.

We do not publish predictions. We publish probability distributions. Each of the twelve events ranked in a Forecast Brief is expressed as a confidence band — a range of likely outcomes, a central estimate, and a stated conditional set. A reader who treats the brief as a yes/no oracle is reading it incorrectly; a reader who treats it as a structured bet-sizing instrument is reading it the way it was written.

Confidence intervals are also what make the model auditable. The Geneva Centre for Security Policy's annual review, in place since 2019, scores each directional call against the interval that was published with it. The 2024 audit confirmed an 87% directional accuracy rate across all published calls, and a 91% hit rate on top-tier inflection points since 2017.

Chapter II — The Seven Pillars

The Lattice, pillar by pillar.

Six indicator families, plus the structural dissent pillar that interrogates them all. Each pillar is staffed by named analysts in named capitals and refreshed on a published cadence.

    The Red-Team Dissent Pillar

Not an indicator — a structural obligation. Every forecast is contested in writing by a named adversary-analyst before publication.

Chapter III — Academic Legitimacy

Taught, tested, and interrogated in four graduate programs.

The Lattice Convergence methodology is not a black box sold to subscribers. It is a published analytical instrument that has been taught, in full, at four universities since 2019. Graduate seminars at each partner institution are granted access to the indicator registry, the dissent protocol, and two years of historical forecasts — and are invited to re-score them.

The point is uncomfortable and deliberate: a methodology that cannot survive a graduate seminar should not survive a subscription either.

We sell probability. If a reader wants certainty, they should buy a newspaper. If they want to know what is most likely to happen in the next eighteen months, expressed as a band they can act on, with the dissenting view written down beside it — that is the only thing we have ever sold.
